HMS Birkenhead Memorial
Today, a memorial was unveiled to commemorate 400 men who drowned when the HMS Birkenhead sank off the coast of South Africa 162 years ago.

A new mosaic to commemorate the Merchant Navy
Thursday saw the unveiling of a new mosaic at the Eldonian Village Hall to commemorate the Merchant Navy. It was designed by Alan Murray and shows the links between the three cities, Liverpool, New York and Montreal.
